Sloane Helicopters Ltd places €200m helicopter order

The annual Convention of the Helicopter Association International, known as HeliExpo, is the world leading helicopter show where manufacturers and suppliers of helicopter related products and services exhibit to customers and partners from all over the world. At HeliExpo, held in Dallas last week, Northampton based Sloane Helicopters announced an order for a total of 44 new AgustaWestland helicopters valued at approximately € 200 million (£133 million). AgustaWestland are one of the world’s largest manufacturers of civilian and military helicopters and Sloane’s order is the largest, single, civilian order they have ever received. Sloane Helicopters Ltd. is based at Sywell Aerodrome, Northampton and is the AgustaWestland distributor for the UK and Republic of Ireland. Sloane is also the distributor for the Robinson Helicopter Company and for Piaggio Aero Industries. The company, founded in 1969, employs some 61 personnel and offers its customers a solution for every aviation need from the purchasing of a helicopter or business jet to pilot training, aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul, retrofit, modifications and upgrades. Sloane has a subsidiary company in Mallorca (Spain) and is also opening another facility in Ireland. “The market in which we are competing is vibrant and always in search of state of the art technology, performance and safety”.
