Air Ambulance - Emergency Medical Services
Sloane Helicopters is responsible for providing Air Ambulance support to Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, based on the operation and supply of two EMS configured Agusta A109E helicopters, maintenance support and Air Ambulance pilots.
On 1st October 2003 Sloane was awarded the contract to provide the WNAA with Helicopter Emergency Medical Services, to the counties of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. In May 2006 Sloane renewed this Air Ambulance support contract for a further 5 years. Sloane currently supplies an Agusta A109E Power aircraft to the WNAA, which provides 7 day medical support to over 1.2 million people operating from Coventry Airport.
On 1st of April 2008, Sloane commenced operations as the new Air Ambulance provider to over 1.4 million people in the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. This Air Ambulance support service also provides DLRAA with an EMS configured Agusta A109E Power aircraft, currently based at East Midlands International Airport.
High speed and outstanding performance, are essential features for Air Ambulances when answering emergency telephone calls. To fulfill these requirements the WNAA and DLRAA have selected the fastest civilian helicopter in the world - the Agusta A109E Power. With top speeds of 200mph, the Agusta A109E Power can be airborne in just 45 seconds.
The Agusta A109E Power also has low cabin vibration, which is essential when transporting serious head, neck and spinal injuries. The helicopter has enough cabin and storage space for medical equipment and two fully assembled stretchers. The WNAA and DLRAA have saved countless lives from providing life saving treatment and medical support, while traveling patients to hospital in the Agusta A109E EMS configured helicopter, operated by Sloane.
